Linklaters has announced the appointment of Rebecca Jarvis, partner in the firm’s London office, as its new global co-head of banking. Rebecca succeeds Philip Spittal as he retires from the firm and will join existing global co-head Ben Crosse, who is based in Madrid.
Rebecca becomes the first female lead of the global Banking practice, which has over 90 partners worldwide. She has led the firm’s restructuring and insolvency team alongside Richard Bussell since 2016.
Rebecca has over 25 years’ experience in advising creditors, insolvency office holders, and corporate debtors and their directors in all aspects of non-contentious restructuring and insolvency work. With a remarkable breadth of practice and extensive experience, Rebecca has acted on a wide range of workouts, business recoveries, stressed financings and administrations and liquidations.
Philip, who has led the global banking practice alongside Ben since 2021, will be retiring after a hugely successful 23-year career at the firm.
Ben Crosse, Global Co-Head of Linklaters’ Banking Practice, commented:
“Rebecca is a trusted advisor with extensive experience and a track record of finding innovative solutions to her clients’ most complex problems, often at the most vulnerable of times. The firm’s banking group, which has a reputation for advising on the highest profile deals in the market, will continue to thrive under her leadership, and I look forward to what we will go on to achieve together.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Phil on behalf of the firm. Phil has made a lasting contribution to the firm over the past 23 years and will be missed by all who have worked with him. We thank Phil for his service and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
