K&L Gates Advises Dimensional Fund Advisors on Three New Equity ETFs on the ASX

Global law firm K&L Gates has continued to advise Dimensional Fund Advisors (Dimensional) on its suite of exchange traded funds (ETFs), with three new equity ETFs launching on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on 19 August 2024.

The three new ETFs are the Dimensional Australian Value Trust – Active ETF (DAVA), Dimensional Global Value Trust – Active ETF (DGVA) and Dimensional Global Small Company Trust – Active ETF (DGSM). The new vehicles are available in a “dual-access” structure accessible through both ASX-listed and unlisted distribution channels.

Dimensional is a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Dimensional Fund Advisers LP, the world’s largest issuer of actively managed ETFs. It manages more than AU$1.1 trillion for investors globally, including more than AU$50 billion for clients in Australia and New Zealand.

The K&L Gates team was led by Sydney-based partners Lisa Lautier and Matthew Watts of the firm’s Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) practice, supported by lawyer Dhivya Kalyanakumar.

Watts stated: “It was a pleasure to assist the Dimensional team on extending its suite of equity ETFs on the ASX.”

Lautier further commented: “Dimensional continues to make strong inroads in the Australian ETF Market, which has had extraordinary growth. We are delighted to assist an important global client on its expansion in Australia.”

K&L Gates advised Dimensional Fund Advisors on its first launch of ETFs on the ASX in November 2023.
