Clifford Chance announces hire of Dominique Laymand, Ipsen’s former Chief Ethics and Social Responsibility Officer

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance announces that Dominique Laymand has joined the firm as Of Counsel, bolstering the firm’s Healthcare, Compliance and ESG credentials.

Dominique is a key player in various pharmaceutical industry associations and committees, proactively addressing trust, reputation, compliance, ethics and Social Responsibility/ESG matters. She also provides cross-sector and cross-medium ethics and compliance education. Prior to joining Clifford Chance, Dominique Laymand was Executive Vice-President and Chief Ethics and Social Responsibility Officer at Ipsen, a global pharmaceutical company, and a member of its Executive Leadership Team. In a former role, Dominique acted as EMEA Vice-President Compliance & Ethics at Bristol Myers Squibb.

Clifford Chance’s global co-head of Healthcare and Life Sciences, Dr Peter Dieners comments: “We are delighted to welcome Dominique to our Firm. She is one of the leading experts in healthcare compliance, ethics and ESG matters in Europe and beyond. Her dual expertise is a wonderful and highly experienced addition to our team. With Dominique, we ensure that we will continue to provide an absolute commitment to the highest standards of ethics and compliance, as integral part of the strategy, in our advice to clients in the healthcare sector and more broadly”.

Roger Leese, co-head of Clifford Chance’s Global Business and Human Rights practice and member of the firm’s ESG Board, adds: “Environmental, Social and Governance factors have fast risen to the top of the board agenda with companies increasingly aware that a failure to address these matters can be detrimental to their businesses, both financially and reputationally. Dominique’s vast board experience and her network throughout Europe and the US will further support our clients in navigating the accelerating global shift towards greater sustainability”.

Dominique adds: “I am excited to be able to bring the benefit of my experience in the industry to Clifford Chance. I look forward to working with the team to advise clients on their compliance and ethics issues, as well as in their Governance and Decision-Making framework, in this dynamic landscape which is of such critical importance for both business and society alike. It enables Business Ethics and ESG to be key strategic non-financial assets, supporting companies’ performance, reputation and sustainability”.

Beside her role as Of Counsel at Clifford Chance, Dominique Laymand is Honorary President of ETHICS, the International Society of Healthcare Ethics and Compliance Professionals, which sets standards of ethics and compliance, and shapes and influences strategies in the changing healthcare environment, thereby contributing to the development of ethics and compliance professionals. She is also a certified coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
