Dentons has welcomed former barrister and NSW Industrial Relations Commissioner Jane Seymour as Special Counsel to its Dispute Resolution team in Sydney.
Specialising in large, complex investigations and inquiries, Jane’s experience spans almost 30 years. Jane advises and appears in matters in the Federal Court, Fair Work Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Additionally, Jane is a qualified Mediator and has significant experience in all areas of alternate dispute resolution and pre-trial compromise.
In addition to her roles as Commissioner and Acting Commissioner of the NSW Industrial Relations Commission, Jane has held appointments as a Senior Legal Advisor to the Sex Discrimination Commissioner’s Inquiry into the Treatment of Women at the Australian Defence Force Academy, and Chair of Inquiries of Greyhound Racing NSW.
She recently led the Independent Review of Inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature at Bathurst and Kirkconnell Correctional Centres, for Corrective Services NSW.
Jane has also been a Senior Fellow of Melbourne University Law School, teaching the postgraduate subject Conducting Workplace Investigations, and an Adjunct Lecturer in Workplace Investigations in the Masters of Labour Law and Relations at Sydney University Law School.
Before coming to the bar, Jane was the Associate to the Hon Justice Margaret Beazley AO in the Federal Court of Australia in 1992.
