Sidley Represents Invenergy in US$1 Billion Follow-On Investment from Blackstone Infrastructure Partners

Sidley represented Invenergy Renewables Holdings LLC (Invenergy), the largest private renewable energy company in North America, in connection with a US$1 billion follow-on equity investment from funds managed by Blackstone Infrastructure Partners (Blackstone). The proceeds from the follow-on investment will help accelerate Invenergy’s existing project portfolio and new business initiatives. Blackstone made its initial US$3 billion investment in Invenergy in 2021 and 2022. Invenergy management and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) will remain majority owners of Invenergy with Invenergy management continuing as managing member.

Invenergy Renewables and its affiliated companies develop, own, and operate large-scale renewable projects in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Invenergy and its affiliated companies have successfully developed more than 30,000 megawatts of projects that are in operation, construction, or contracted, including wind, solar, transmission infrastructure, natural gas power generation, and advanced energy storage projects.

The Sidley team was led by Energy and Infrastructure partner Tara Higgins and Private Equity partner Chaim Theil. They were primarily supported by Chris Folmsbee, Curtis Hart, and Karl Pielmeier (Energy and Infrastructure).

The team also included Terence Healey (Energy and Infrastructure); Suresh Advani and Hagai Zaifman (Tax); James Mendenhall (Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy); Patrick Harrison and Laurenz Bové (Antitrust); and Emily Chazen and Sarah Wiley (M&A and Private Equity).
