Sidley advised on the initial public offering (IPO) of APT Electronics Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 2551) on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). Sidley acted as Hong Kong and U.S. counsel for the sole sponsor CITIC Securities (Hong Kong) Limited and the underwriters.
APT Electronics is a provider of intelligent automotive vision products integrating “LED+” technologies. It integrates LED technologies with integrated circuits (ICs), electronic control, software, sensors, optics, and others. In 2023, APT Electronics was one of the top three domestic device and module manufacturers in China’s high-end lighting industry in terms of revenue, according to CIC.
The Sidley team was led by partners Sherlyn Lau, member of Sidley’s Executive Committee and deputy head of China Corporate and Finance group, and Carrie Li. Sidley is one of the few international law firms that have represented the largest number of Chinese and international companies in Hong Kong IPOs. It has been a pioneer in the Hong Kong capital market, having completed a growing number of high-profile IPOs for advanced technology and new economy companies, including the first Specialist Technology IPO under Chapter 18C of the Listing Rules: QuantumPharm Inc. (HKEX: 2228), and the first Integrated Circuit (IC) design company listed in Hong Kong in the last decade: BaTeLab Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 2149).
Sidley has been “highly recommended” in “Most Innovative Lawyers in Science and Technology” at the FT Innovative Lawyers APAC Awards 2024, which was announced in May. It was also one of the finalists in 2023 for “Most Innovative Lawyers in Deal Making” and in “Facilitating Global Business.”
