Ropes & Gray has advised leading global private markets firm Partners Group, acting on behalf of its clients, on the agreement to invest in Exus, a leading European infrastructure asset management firm focused on the renewable energy sector. Partners Group plans to commit up to EUR 1 billion in growth capital.

Exus is a provider of third-party asset management services for owners of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects across Europe. It helps investors source acquisition opportunities, manage development and construction of new projects, optimise technical performance, and reduce risks across renewable energy portfolios.

Following the investment, Partners Group plans to transform Exus into a next-generation renewable energy platform by expanding development and construction of owned assets to complement its existing asset management business.

This is the second private equity transaction Ropes & Gray has advised Partners Group on this year, having supported the business on its investment in Sterling Pharma Solutions in May.

The Ropes & Gray team was led by private equity partners John Newton, Victoria McGrath and Simon Saitowitz with support from counsel Laura Kayani, associates Victoria Srivastava, Charlie Shephard and Rouzana Kasem, and paralegals Alexander Kelly and Daniel Lennon-Woodward. Additional support was provided by partner Sean Seelinger, counsel Paige Berges and associate Camille Bachrach in the litigation & enforcement team, and partner Andrew Howard and associate Charles Voisey in the tax team.

Ropes & Gray worked with law firm Uria Menendez as Spanish counsel for Partners Group on the transaction. Cuatrecasas acted for Exus.
