Ropes & Gray has advised Basecamp Research, a London-based startup and market leader in mapping biodiversity for AI-based design of biological systems, on its $60 million Series B funding round.
The round was led by European VC firm Singular with participation from other investors including S32, True Ventures and Hummingbird Ventures.
The funding will go towards expanding Basecampās genomic database and filling the gaps in biological information needed to build more powerful AI models by visiting the most exotic places in the world and mining hard-to-get genetic data.
The team was led by life sciences counselĀ David DowlingĀ and partnerĀ Rajarshi BanerjeeĀ with support from associatesĀ Nick TallonĀ andĀ Charlie Shephard. Additional support was provided by tax partnerĀ Andrew HowardĀ and associateĀ Sophie Waters, antitrust partnerĀ Lisa Kaltenbrunner, and traineeĀ Cameron Grabowski.
