University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana is conducting Model Youth Parliament 2017 on the subject of Goods and Services Tax for the students to get an overview on the working of the lower house of the Parliament – Lok Sabha. The bill will be introduced, debated upon, amended and finally passed or rejected as according to the simple majority.
Dates: November 4-5, 2017
Venue: Annie Besant Auditorium, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana
Members of the House: The Model Parliament shall have-
- Prime Minister;
- Leader of Opposition;
- Members of the cabinet, who will represent the government;
- Shadow ministers representing the opposition; and;
- Prominent Members of the Parliament.
Selection Procedure:
- The candidates have to fill up the google registration form available on our facebook page – “PURC Model Youth Parliament” or on the link provided below. The aspirants must note that there are no manual registrations.
- Once the aspirants fill the registration forms, they shall be scrutinized by a team of experts and the team shall thus select the participating MPs on basis of their answers filled in the form.
- The Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition, members of cabinet and the shadow ministers shall be selected on basis of interview conducted by the expert team. The portfolios to be assigned to each cabinet and shadow minister shall also be decided by the expert team only.
- The candidates shall be selected for the interview on basis of the answers filled in the registration form. During the interview, the candidates shall be analysed by the expert team on his/her speaking skills, knowledge and aptitude.
- The parliamentarians can communicate in both- English and Hindi language during the interview and the parliament session.
Awards: Prizes worth 25000 INR to be won.
Registration Fees: ₹1000/- which includes study material, stationary kit, lunches and refreshments for 2 days and, knowledge, experience and exposure.
Accommodation is available at ₹400/- per day.
