Mayer Brown announced today that Perry Hicks has rejoined the firm’s Banking & Finance practice as a partner in Charlotte. Mr. Hicks’ practice focuses primarily on private investment fund finance. He joins from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.
“Perry brings 20 years of experience in fund finance, with significant experience in net asset value (NAV) financings – which is rising in client demand,” said Paul Jorissen, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Banking & Finance practice. “Perry adds further bench strength to our rapidly growing finance practice, while enhancing our ability to serve clients in the expanding market in non-traditional lending. He is also the second partner to recently rejoin our fund finance team, following the return of Alex Righi, which is testament to the strong practice we have built.”
Mr. Hicks has an extensive financing practice that focuses on private investment fund and energy commodities secured transactions. He has advised many leading global financial institutions in secured fund financings, including NAV, hybrid, and subscription facilities to hedge funds, fund of funds, family offices and private equity debtors. His practice also routinely involves advising global financial institutions as agents, lead arrangers and creditors in syndicated lending transactions to leading energy and commodity companies. Mr. Hicks has substantial experience helping clients identify and efficiently address the complexities that present in fund-related financings and complex cross-border transactions.
“Mayer Brown has a leading fund finance practice and a global and comprehensive banking and finance team to support my practice and better serve my clients,” said Mr. Hicks. “The real joy in rejoining the firm, however, is the opportunity to work with many of my former colleagues and to contribute to the further expansion of the firm’s fund finance capabilities in an environment of exceptional client service.”
“Perry’s experience, combined with his substantial knowledge of the fund finance market, will broaden our alternative fund finance capabilities in Charlotte and beyond,” said Keith Oberkfell, the managing partner of Mayer Brown’s Charlotte office. “We are confident that our clients will benefit from his dedication to client service and approach to sophisticated finance transactions.”
Mr. Hicks’ arrival comes shortly after Alex Righi and Cassandra Best, who joined the funds finance team in Chicago and New York, respectively.
