London—Leading global law firm Dentons has welcomed Toby Gray as partner in its Banking & Financial Services team in London. Toby joins Dentons from Linklaters, where he was a well-established Capital Markets partner.

Toby brings with him over 27 years of experience at Linklaters, including 18 as a partner, specialising in complex securitised derivative products, with a particular emphasis on repackagings, credit-linked notes and synthetic securitisations.

Recognised by the major legal directories as “a market-leading repackaged note specialist and our relationship partner – exceptional” (Legal 500),Toby’s work is made up of bridging mainstream debt capital markets (DCM) and derivatives. Having spent a significant portion of his career in the Linklaters’ Asian offices, he also has longstanding experience of working with Asian, predominantly Japanese, clients to help them bridge cultural, practical and commercial challenges to complete their most strategically important transactions.

Nick Hayday, who leads Dentons’ Banking & Financial Services practice in the UK, Ireland and Middle East (UKIME), said: “We are thrilled to welcome Toby to our team. His extensive experience in structured finance and derivatives, as well his broad experience in more mainstream capital markets transactions, will undoubtedly strengthen our offering to clients.”

Paul Jarvis, Chief Executive of Dentons’ UK, Ireland and Middle East region added, “Toby is a very welcome addition to our Banking & Financial Services team. His extensive profile within the industry will bring new opportunities to grow our structured finance team and strengthen our position in the market.”
