About
The Centre for Business and Commercial Laws (‘CBCL’) of The National Law Institute University, Bhopal in collaboration with Trilegal, is organizing the NLIU-Trilegal Summit on Mergers and Acquisitions in India on March 4-5, 2016. The Summit invites participation from delegates and paper presenters. Both are expected to submit either an article or an essay on Mergers and Acquisitions within the contours of the sub-themes in light of the relevant legal provisions. Three submissions under each sub-theme across both categories, i.e., essays and articles shall be selected for presentation. In addition to this, the top fifteen submissions (inclusive of the submissions that are presented) from both categories shall be published in an ISBN certified book commemorating the Summit, that shall be distributed exclusively to the authors attending the Summit.
Sub-themes
The submissions must be within the contours of the following sub-themes:
- Mergers and Acquisitions gone bad and Private Equity Exits.
- Mergers and Acquisitions in E-commerce Sector/Pharmaceutical Sector/ Technology sector: drivers and challenges.
- Current issues in Mergers and Acquisitions.
Categories
Submissions can be made under the following categories:
- Articles: Manuscripts under this category should be 4000-6000 words long dealing with an issue in-depth and demonstrating a comparatively higher level of analysis. Co-authoring of papers (maximum two) among individuals of same or different institutions is permissible.
- Essays: Manuscripts being submitted under this category should either cover a recent development or be issue-specific within the word limit of 2000 to 3000 words. Co-authorship is not permissible.
Kindly note that the word limit is inclusive of footnotes. Strict adherence to the word limit is highly prescribed.
Submission Guidelines
- Authors who wish to present their work at the Summit are requested to submit an abstract on or before January 20, 2016 not exceeding 300 words. The Author must categorically mention the specific contribution of the Article, beyond the existing available literature, and the practical utility of his/her recommendations.
- The main text of the article and the abstract should be formatted in Times New Roman font, size 12. The footnotes shall be formatted in Times New Roman, size 10. Text should have justified alignment and the line spacing should be kept at 1.5 for main body and 1.0 for footnotes, with a margin of one inch on all sides. Kindly follow the Bluebook (19th edition) as the uniform method of citation.
- All papers should be accompanied by a cover letter mentioning the name, contact details including address and phone number of the author(s) and name and address of her/his University/Institution.
Deadline
No abstracts shall be accepted for consideration after 11:59 pm on January 20, 2016. The last date for submission of complete manuscripts, for both articles and essays, is February 10, 2016 (11:59 pm).

Registration Fee
The Registration fee shall be ₹1000 for entries with single authors and ₹1500 for entries with co-authorship. Only those students whose papers are selected for publication in the book commemorating the Summit will be required to pay the registration fee.
Rewards
The Rewards in the two categories shall be as follows:
- Article:
Winner- Would be awarded an internship with Trilegal along with a cash prize of ₹11,000.
Runner-up- Would be awarded a cash prize of ₹8,000.
- Essay:
Winner- Would be awarded a cash prize of ₹11,000.
Runner-up- Would be awarded a cash prize of ₹8,000.
