School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance, Tata Institute of Social Sciences in collaboration with Maharashtra Human Rights Commission and International Justice Mission calls upon the authors to contribute for the National Seminar on ‘Access to Criminal & Correctional Justice for Marginalized in Indian Context’ on the 13th of January, 2018.
The seminar would be attended by academicians, legal experts, luminaries form judiciary as well as from Independent human right institutions and eminent personalities from various spheres of the legal profession and allied disciplines will be attending the Seminar.
From the preliminary responses following the online post of the seminar, we intend to shortlist 80 papers for paper presentation across the country. Besides, we are expecting professors, teaching associates, research scholars resource persons, discussant, moderator, chair and co-chairs for the respective sessions from Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Maharashtra National Law University.
The seminar emphasizes on criminal, correctional justice underlining the emerging concept of right based perspective for victim and expounds on the victim centric justice with inclusion of disadvantaged, marginalized, prison inmates other marginalized sections of society vis a vis the role of law enforcement agencies, judicial and human right institutions and critical appraisal of the same. As a follow up after the seminar, we seek to publish the select articles in a special edition bearing ISSN no.Ā and a report on the sessions with its crucial findings to be published and submitted to SHRC. A compendium of legal resources on the central themes of the seminar and publication of seminar proceedings with excerpts from the speeches of academicians, judicial authorities for an insightful reading.
The seminar will serve the purpose of knowledge dissemination, awareness generation on the challenges and possible solution towards the better realization of justice, safeguard of rights under the criminal and correctional justice.
