Mayer Brown has advised Citibank (as coordinator) and SACE on a $400 million syndicated, SACE-covered loan facility to Eletrobras, the main Brazilian electricity company and the largest in Latin America. The loan forms part of SACE’s Push Strategy and aims to facilitate new opportunities for “Made in Italy” exports to Brazil in the energy sector, with a special focus on renewables.
The funding is intended to support Eletrobras’ impressive growth plans in the next years. The operation is aimed at increasing business opportunities for Italian companies, in particular SMEs, facilitating their access to the Brazilian market through “Business Matching” activities such as targeted meetings between Eletrobras and Italian companies aimed at developing new collaborations and expanding export opportunities over the coming years.
The team was led by partners Ash McDermott (London), Eduardo Lima and Priscilla Santos and included associate Ingrid Pistili (all São Paulo) and trainee William Maddison (London).
