Jim Klaiber Joins the New York Office

Linklaters has strengthened its global intellectual property team with the hire of IP specialist Jim Klaiber, who joins the firm as Counsel in New York. Jim’s multi-dimensional expertise will enhance Linklaters’ U.S. IP offering and continues the firm’s expansion of its transactional platform as well as its litigation bench in the U.S.

Jim is widely regarded for his impressive experience in complex, high-value, international transactions, including M&A, carve-outs, and drafting and negotiating strategic IP agreements, including joint-venture, collaboration, and licencing agreements. He also brings extensive experience with high-profile IP disputes, having played a leading role in large patent litigation cases before the U.S. District Courts, International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ieuan Jolly, Chair of Linklaters’ U.S. TMT & Data Solutions practice, said: “Protecting and leveraging IP assets is a critical component of our clients’ businesses, particularly as the pace of innovation continues to accelerate across all sectors. Jim’s dynamic skillset and IP experience in this field will be a tremendous asset to our clients as they continue to pursue complex transactions in the U.S. and around our global network.”

Jim said: “Linklaters has an unrivalled global platform with an incredible breadth and depth of talent in the U.S. They are engaged in pioneering transactions in the technology and data space, embracing AI and new digital frontiers, which aligns perfectly with my focus. Linklaters has a fantastic client base at the forefront of innovation, with a strong track record in patent disputes, and I’m looking forward to joining the team and building on that success.”

Linklaters’ cross-border Intellectual Property team successfully advises market-leading companies on complex IP-driven transactions and high-profile IP litigation. The firm tackles the entire spectrum of IP rights, including patents, supplementary protection certificates, copyrights, designs, and trademarks. Linklaters’ IP specialists in the U.S. are integrated within our TMT & Data Solutions practice working at the intersection of data and technology-enabled transactions for companies in high-growth, innovation-driven markets.
