Linklaters advises Goldman Sachs Alternatives on its EUR€89m debt investment in Regenergy Frövi

Linklaters has advised Goldman Sachs Alternatives on its EUR€89m debt investment in Regenergy Frövi, a subsidiary of the Selected Waste-To-Life fund, which specialises in leveraging industrial waste streams to advance sustainable food production.

The company has already developed and operates a groundbreaking 100,000 m² greenhouse in Frövi, Sweden. This facility utilizes waste heat from a nearby paper mill to grow tomatoes year-round, providing locally produced, sustainable alternatives for the Swedish market.

The new investment from Goldman Sachs Alternatives secures long-term financing for Regenergy Frövi and will fund the construction of a second greenhouse of similar size.

Magnus Wennerhorn commented:

“We are very pleased about the successful closing of this innovative financing deal, a landmark project that champions sustainable practices with elements of heat infrastructure. This venture marks a significant step in sustainable finance and highlights the positive impact of leveraging waste heat in agriculture.”

The cross-border Linklaters team was led out of Stockholm, London and Luxembourg by Banking partner Magnus Wennerhorn with counsel Jo Jimenez, alongside partner Melinda Perera, managing associates Victor Bengtson and Adrian Danciu, associates Ester Ng, Sophia Lorentzon, Ninab Yousif, and Christoforos Naziroglou.
