Life in a law school is a roller coaster ride full of beautiful experiences, moments and hard work. But I am sure when you graduate after 5 or 3 years it would be worth it. We all join law school confused and ecstatic about what was going to happen to us in these coming years. We all dream to become Harvey Specter from Suits. Most of us are in the perspective that life in a law school is full of sleepless nights and reading case laws and all. That might sound a little platitude but it’s kind of true. But there is more to law school than just this. You will learn a lot of new life skills. Law school teaches you to be responsible.
THINGS IN A LAW SCHOOL
1. CASES, SECTIONS, AND LIBRARY LIFE
Well from the very 1st year you will notice that professors will teach you using bare acts and cases. In the beginning, it might be difficult for a 1st year but gradually you get the hang of it. The 2nd thing you will notice is that you have to read a lot. It would be advisable if you get into the habit of reading as fast as possible. Professors will tell you to refer books which are way thicker and bigger than your school books. The third thing you will notice is that you have some kind of attraction towards the library. It becomes your second home and your third home if you are a hosteller. One thing is for sure is that you will be visiting that room quite often in the years ahead.
2. MOOTING
Now mooting is an art in which everyone wishes to excel in. It is the most major extracurricular activity in a law school. A lot of hard work and commitment is required. Right from making memorials, to making the arguments and practicing. There is a lot of research work required as well. Mooting is a simulation of a court where students are presented with a court problem and they have to argue before a judge or a panel of judges. It is the closest experience a law student can have to appearing to court. You can always see a team in the library preparing for a moot.
