Latham & Watkins Advises Marubeni America Corporation in Its Joint Venture With Ozona CCS LLC

Multidisciplinary team advised Marubeni America Corporation in the joint venture.

Ozona CCS LLC, a carbon capture and sequestration company, and Marubeni America Corporation (Marubeni), have announced an agreement forming a joint venture between an affiliate of Marubeni and Ozona CCS LLC to develop and operate a carbon capture and sequestration project in the Eagleford.

Latham & Watkins LLP represented Marubeni in the transaction with a deal team led by New York partner JP Brisson, Houston/New York partner Justin T. Stolte, and Houston partner John Greer, with assistance on corporate matters by associates John Daywalt, Cesar Leyva, and Rebekah Bingham. Advice was also provided on environmental matters by Washington, D.C. partner Janice Schneider and San Diego partner Jennifer Roy, with associates Qingyi Pan, Nolan Fargo, and Brett Frazer;* on tax matters by Houston partner Jim Cole, with associate Dylan White; on compensation and benefits matters by Washington, D.C. partner Adam Kestenbaum and Houston counsel Krisa Benskin; on antitrust matters by Washington, D.C. partner Jason Cruise, Brussels counsel Philipp Studt, and Washington, D.C. counsel Catherine Hein, with associate Sara Castiglia; and on real estate matters by Los Angeles partner Kim Boras.
