ExxonMobil has announced a carbon capture and storage agreement with Linde. ExxonMobil will transport and permanently store up to 2.2 million metric tons a year of CO₂ from Linde’s US$1.8 billion clean hydrogen plant in Beaumont, Texas, scheduled to start operating in 2025. This is ExxonMobil’s largest such project to date.
Latham & Watkins LLP represented ExxonMobil in the transaction with a corporate team led by Houston partner Jonathan Castelan, with associates Sam Bentley and Kevin Donovan. Advice was also provided on tax matters by Houston partner Jim Cole; and on environmental matters by Orange County counsel Joshua Bledsoe.
