Latham & Watkins Advises Extra Space Storage in Merger with Life Storage

Extra Space Storage Inc. (NYSE: EXR) and Life Storage, Inc. (NYSE: LSI) have announced that the two companies have entered into a definitive merger agreement by which Extra Space will acquire Life Storage in an all-stock transaction. The transaction brings together two industry-leading platforms, and the combined company is expected to have a pro forma equity market capitalization of approximately US$36 billion and total enterprise value of approximately US$47 billion.

Latham & Watkins LLP represents Extra Space Storage Inc. with a corporate deal team led by San Diego partners Craig Garner and Kevin Reyes, and counsel Anthony Gostanian, with associates Claire Drucker, Derek Rogers, and Madeleine West. Advice was also provided on tax matters by Century City partner Pardis Zomorodi and Los Angeles partner Eric Cho, with San Diego associate Ryan Brenner; on employee benefits matters by San Diego partner Holly Bauer and Washington, D.C. counsel Laura Szarmach, with San Diego associate Julie Voorhes; on real estate matters by San Diego counsel Achraf Farraj, with associate Will Swanson; on debt matters by Los Angeles partners Greg Rodgers and Kenneth Askin, with New York associate Roger Yarett; on environmental matters by Orange County partner Chris Norton, with Washington, D.C. associate Phil Sandick; on IP/data privacy matters by Bay Area counsel Arielle Singh and Houston counsel Robert Brown; and on regulatory matters by Washington, D.C. partner Jason Cruise.
