Believer Entertainment, founded by industry veterans obsessed with players and creating worlds worthy of them, announced that it has secured up to US$55 million in financing. The funding, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, will initially be put to work building a world-class team to deliver a next-generation open-world game, anchored by an original IP, stories where player choices matter, and gameplay systems that bring players together rather than pushing them apart. The round is also supported by Andreesen Horowitz (a16z), Bitkraft Ventures, Riot Games, 1Up Ventures, Upfront Ventures, Next Play Capital, Alumni Ventures, Villam Ventures, Don Thompson’s Cleveland Avenue, and Michael D. Eisner’s Tornante Company.
Latham & Watkins LLP represents Believer Entertainment in the financing round with an emerging companies team led by Bay Area partners Greg Roussel and Mike Podolny, with Bay Area associates Christopher Pham and Justin Tzeng.
