Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Patrick Mitchell has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in the Entertainment, Sports & Media Practice. Mitchell works exclusively in the sports and entertainment sectors, advising a wide variety of sports governing bodies, media companies, corporates, and investors on high-end commercial transactions.

Mitchell has substantial experience across a broad range of areas, with a particular focus on sophisticated media rights and sponsorship arrangements, the launch and expansion of media and digital services, sports technology, and all aspects of establishing and monetising events.

“Patrick’s skills are highly complementary to our existing corporate capabilities,” said Jay Sadanandan, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in London. “He is a fantastic addition to our growing team. His experience handling complex domestic and cross-border matters in this dynamic and important sector further strengthens our London and European practice.”

“Patrick’s arrival will enhance our relationships with leading global and domestic big brand companies, and is further evidence of our commitment to be the best entertainment, sports and media practice in the major hubs around the world,” commented David Walker, Global Vice-Chair of Latham’s Corporate Department.

“We see huge potential to expand our practice in Europe and Asia to complement our market-leading US capabilities,” said Joe Calabrese, Global Chair of the firm’s Entertainment, Sports & Media Practice. “Our platform, track record for creative, innovative counsel, and depth of knowledge on virtually every aspect covering the broad and interconnected entertainment, sports and media sectors affords us a unique position to advise clients on their high-stakes domestic and cross-border matters. This is one of the world’s most exciting and fast-moving sectors and we are thrilled to add a partner of Patrick’s stature to our busy London team led by partner Libby Savill.”

Mitchell joins Latham & Watkins from DLA Piper’s London office. He graduated with a BA Jurisprudence from Oxford University before completing his Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School, qualifying as a solicitor of England & Wales in 2004.
