Keelin Kavanagh, Arthur Hoffmann and David Jaroslaw join DLA Piper’s Litigation practice in New York

DLA Piper announced that Keelin Kavanagh, Arthur Hoffmann and David Jaroslaw have joined the firm’s Litigation practice as partners in New York.

The group brings a strong background handling product liability matters, particularly in the life sciences industry, and has extensive experience representing companies in complex disputes as well as in global risk assessment and mitigation.

Kavanagh’s broad-based litigation and advisory practice includes contract disputes, mass torts, banking, false advertising and trade dress infringement. As part of her defense of manufacturers in product liability matters, she has significant experience working with scientific and medical experts both in the US and throughout Europe.

Hoffmann has represented product manufacturers, particularly those in the vape and tobacco industries, both in the US and internationally. He has experience working with experts in many scientific and medical disciplines. He has also handled commercial litigation in both New York state and federal trial and appellate courts involving real estate, professional malpractice, torts and admiralty.

Jaroslaw has represented manufacturers of products in various industries, including tobacco and e-cigarettes, in the US, Europe and Asia, and he has a deep understanding of complex issues involving science, medicine and technology. Jaroslaw has also represented clients in connection with liability and IP issues arising from new technologies in the consumer products and ride-sharing industries. He is a former organized crime prosecutor who specialized in international money laundering cases.

“The addition of Keelin, Arthur and David to our team will substantially expand our ability to strategically advise clients facing multi-jurisdictional product liability litigation,” said Loren Brown, co-chair of DLA Piper’s global and US Litigation practices. “In industries that are evolving rapidly, such as the vaping and e-cigarette market, companies are increasingly likely to become targets for litigation and enforcement actions, and we will be well-positioned to advise and represent them in complex cross-border matters.”

“This talented group of litigators will significantly enhance our product liability and life sciences capabilities across our global platform in addition to providing strategic depth to our New York bench,” said Richard Hans, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “We are pleased to welcome them to the firm.”

Kavanagh, Hoffmann and Jaroslaw all join from Greenspoon Marder, where Kavanagh previously served as managing partner of the firm’s New York office. Kavanagh received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.A. from Fordham University. Hoffmann received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.A. from Stony Brook University. Jaroslaw received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.S. from Cornell University.
