Jaipur National University – 1st Model Youth United Nations Meet

Seedling School of Law & Governance, Jaipur National University is going to organize the 1st Model Youth United Nations Meet

Date: 26th – 27th August, 2016
Venue: Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University

Eligibility:
Under Graduate students of Law, Political Science, History and Economics are eligible to participate in this event.

Agenda of Model Youth United Nations Meet:

UN General Assembly:

• International Situation:
  • Report of the UN Secretary-General for the period 2015-16
  • An overview of situations likely to endanger International peace and security.

• Draft Convention on International Terrorism

• Eradication of poverty and other development issues:
  • Implementation of the Second United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty (2008-2017)
  • Women in Development
  • Human Resources Development

• Sustainable Development:
  • Implementation of Agenda 21, and the outcomes of the World Summit on Sustainable Development and of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development
  • International Strategy for Disaster Reduction
  • Protection of global climate for present and future generations of mankind

UN Human Rights Council:

• The continuing grave deterioration in the Human Rights and humanitarian situation in the Syrian Arab Republic
• Use of remotely piloted aircraft or armed drones in counter-terrorism and military operations
• The right of persons with disabilities and equality of opportunity
• Possibility of International regulation, monitoring and oversight of the activities of private military and security companies in armed conflict.

UN Security Council:

• Consideration of situations likely to endanger International peace and security: Focus; Syria, Refugees, Humanitarian Assistance
• Situation in Libya, Yemen and ;threats posed by Da’esh, Boko Haram, al-Shabaab, ISIS and other terrorist groups
• The role of women in conflict prevention and resolution

Registration:
Participants are required to register themselves with their Name, Name of the College / School, Contact Number, Email address for communication and previous MUN / debating experience.

During registration, participants have to indicate their choice among the following:

• Delegate
• International Press Corps

As a Delegate, participants have to state their preference for the committee:

• United Nations General Assembly
• United Nations Security Council
• United Nations Human Rights Council

Please note that participants’ preference does not ensure that they will be allotted a committee of their choice. The allotment of committee / country will be based on draw of lots to be conducted by the Organizing Committee.

As an International Press, participants can choose to be among the following:

• Journalist
• Photographer

Registration Fee:
The registration fee for delegates is Rs. 1500/- and for International Press members is Rs. 500/- only.

Delegate Registration Fee includes:

• 2 Day YUN Conference at SSLG, JNU, Jaipur
• 1 Delegate Kit
• 4 Conference High tea & 2 Lunch
• 1 Social Night

The mode of payment will be Demand Draft. The Demand Draft should be in favour of “Jaipur National University Event” payable at “Jaipur”. Participants are required to send a scanned copy of Demand Draft and postal receipt to ecc.sslg@gmail.com and with the Event Name – Model Youth United Nations and sender’s name and address written on the other side of the Demand Draft. The postal address is mentioned below:

The Countries will be allotted to the participants after receiving the above mentioned mail.

Accommodation:
Participant who wishes to take accommodation from the Organizers during the event days have to pay more with the registration fees in the Demand Draft. Accommodation charges for single delegation and double delegation will be Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- respectively. Accommodation will not be provided to International Press.
