Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- Being a law professor as well as having an experience of 28 years as a teacher let me start Ab initio. I graduated B.Sc., B.L. and Post Graduate Degree in Law with specialization in “Civil Wrongs and Remedies” from Andhra University. I were awarded Ph.D. degree for my thesis on “Medical Negligence in India – A Juristic Study” from Andhra University in 2004.
I joined DS National Law University in the year 2014 as an Associate Professor of Law. Currently, I am holding the position of Dean, Academic Affairs & Research and I am also Faculty Coordinator of Career and Placement Cell of the University.
Ankit Baranwal: – What inspired you to join law, were you able to satisfy yourself inspiration?
Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- It’s a nice question because my father pursued law from Madras University and He was a farmer principle secretary of Govt. of AP and during my school days itself He was telling us about certain legal aspects like Contracts, Damages etc. So, He is the man behind my journey towards law.
Ankit Baranwal: – Ma’am, How was your law school journey?
Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- Let me tell you something as soon as I completed my LL.B(Hons.) from Andhra University and enrolled myself as an Advocate, I Practiced for 2-3 years. By that time only I completed my LL.M with specialization in “Civil Wrongs and Remedies” from Andhra University. Then I served in the N.B.M Law College, Visakhapatnam in different capacities as a Lecturer and Principal since 12th June 1989 to 2014. And incidentally on the same date on 12th June in the year of 2014 I joined DS National Law University, Vishakhapatnam.
Ankit Baranwal: – What are the opportunities that are open today to Law Students? How does one grow in this noble profession?
Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- There are a lot of opportunities but that depends on the interest of a student. They may go for Litigation, Judicial Exams, Defence Sector, Corporate Sector’s job or can be a legal officer in private as well as in public sector in some PSU’s or nowadays certain LPOs are expanding all across the nation but again interest of a student is the key to success.
Ankit Baranwal: – What’s the best thing about your job?
Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- I love teaching and that is the best part. I have been teaching since 28 years just because of my dedication, hard work and research in the field of law and teaching profession.

Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- Mooting, publication and internships are an integral part of academics they give practical knowledge to students. A particular interaction is needed in every field. To represent a council, to be a law officer or to join any legal firm internships are very much required that puts a mirror of harsh reality in the respective areas. It will improve their abilities as well as shape them into a better scholar.

Dr. P. Sri. Devi:- Behind every success there is honesty, dedication and hard work, do not rely on shortcuts.
