Divorce is a matter that is always in the papers, on television, and even in everyday conversations that we make with each other. The issue of divorce is diverse and becomes more diverse in instances where couples have born children. The law always seeks to protect the rights of the child as this entity is always prejudiced in cases where there is a divorce in a family. Upon divorce matters that usually arise are about custody and child support. Custody is about the party that will stay with the child until they are of majority age to make their own sound decisions. Child support on the other hand is about catering for the child’s cost. Child support lawyers in Houston has specialized in matters of divorce and the factors that help decide what is fair in a child support order.

Where the Child Cohabits Most of the Times

Cohabitation is generally about the custody of the child or the person they live with. The parent who stays with the child more often than not is not required to provide the same amount of child support as the one who does not live with the child. In giving an order of child support the courts always consider the custody. The custody of a child is always borne bythe most responsible parents with the best interests of the child by the results of the review by the courts. Child support is most of the time paid to the parent that has custody.

The Child’s Daycare and Health Insurance

A child’s education and health is of great importance. The total summation of the amount that is spent on health and daycare should be made and the sum should be well accounted for to avoid prejudicing any of the parties. The sum is shared by the parties by the child support order which is a percentage according to the evaluation done on both parties.

Income of Both Parents

The concept of income of both parents seeks to protect the less privileged parent in the matters of child support. The income of every parent is brought into account to get the right percentage that each parent is supposed to produce as child support. Child support lawyers in Houston, does these calculations to ensure that no parent is overburdened by the amount that they should be procuring at the prescribed time by a court of law.

The Age and Number of Children

Child support of children always differs in terms of their age. Children of tender years tend to require more than their counterparts between the ages of 8 and 12. Adolescents on the other hand spend even more than the two groups where their tuition fees come into account. Child support for children in different age groups should not be the same and to ensure fairness in the order of child support courts should take into account all these considerations.

Separation of parents is a non-pleasant occurrence that comes in families and if not well looked into children would be prejudiced and that is why the concept of child support was brought up. However, the calculation of child support should be fair to avoid inconveniencing any of the interested parties.
