Led by Frankfurt partner Jochen Seitz, international law firm Hogan Lovells has advised Landesbank Berlin AG – a subsidiary of Landesbank Berlin Holding AG – on the update of its debt issuance programme for the issuance of notes and covered bonds under the new EU Prospectus Regulation. Landesbank Berlin AG is the owner of Berliner Sparkasse and is a separate savings bank association under the Berlin Savings Bank Act. As a universal bank, the focus of its business activities is on the business with private and corporate customers as well as on regional commercial real estate finance. To refinance its lending business, Landesbank Berlin AG uses in particular the issuance of covered bonds, which can be offered to institutional investors under the programme.
The team around Jochen Seitz has advised several market participants on the adaption of their debt issuance programmes to the new EU Prospectus Regulation, including a number of other Pfandbrief banks. Most recently, the team advised on the placement of the world’s first green covered bond under Luxembourg law (see HERE).
