Led by partner Carla Luh, global law firm Hogan Lovells has advised private bank Berenberg and the Berenberg Green Energy Debts Funds on the layered financing of wind farm project Mikonkeidas on the west coast of Finland.
Project Mikonkeidas marks the fifth project of longstanding client Berenberg and the international project developer Energiequelle GmbH. The Berenberg Green Energy Debt Funds provide the junior financing for construction and operation of the Finnish wind farm project Mikonkeidas with a total capacity of 105.6 MW. The wind farm with sixteen Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SG 6.6-170 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW, is scheduled for completion in the second calendar quarter of 2025 and is expected to produce clean energy for 75,000 households.
Berenberg is acting as an investment advisor for the junior lenders in this project and has simultaneously coordinated the overall financing process, including a senior loan provided by P Capital Partners Transition Partner Fund AB.
Hogan Lovells has advised its client on the German side of the junior financing, the German due diligence workstream and on the intercreditor discussions with the senior lender.
“We are delighted to have been able to advise our client on the fifth transaction with Energiequelle in a smooth and effective transaction with great collaboration with all parties involved.”, said Carla Luh, head of the German finance practice.
Finnish law firm HPP Attorneys have acted as local counsel for Berenberg and the junior lenders. The senior lender and its investment advisor P Capital Partner AB have been advised by Bird & Bird LLP.
