Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has hired Matthew Bool as a partner in its market leading multi-disciplinary Real Estate practice based in London.

Matthew is an experienced non-contentious construction lawyer with a focus on the real estate sector. He was previously a partner and co-head of the London non-contentious construction practice at Ashurst. Matthew acts for employers, developers, investors and lenders on all forms of construction documentation for major real estate development projects. He also regularly advises on procurement strategy and the inter-relationship between construction documentation and property documentation.

Matthew will join the non-contentious construction team working with practice head Tim Healey and partner Nick Downing. He will work alongside the other 17 partners that make up the firm’s wider Real Estate practice.

Ranked Band 1 in Chambers and Legal 500, Herbert Smith Freehills’ non-contentious construction practice operates across, and is integral to the firm’s full-service offering in, the real estate, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Jeremy Walden, Managing Partner of the Real Estate practice, UK and EMEA, at Herbert Smith Freehills, comments:

“Matthew is a well-known figure in the industry and recognised by clients and peers alike for his technical and commercial skills, excellent client service and deep sector knowledge. His arrival at the firm will allow us to further develop and strengthen our offerings for, and relationships with, our clients across the whole of the built environment. We are delighted to welcome Matthew to the firm.”

Matthew Bool says:

“Herbert Smith Freehills is a firm I have long admired, particularly for its leading full-service real estate sector offering and strong reputation in the market. I am excited to embark on this next chapter in my career and to be working with the team to support clients as they continue to navigate a constantly evolving sector amidst challenging market conditions.”
