Global law firm Freshfields has advised RELX Group, the global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers, on its strategic exit from the Austrian exhibition market. Following an evaluation of RX Global’s business activities in Austria, the decision was made to transfer the exhibition business of three RX entities to new ownership, which is expected to provide more favourable conditions for future growth in the Austrian exhibition market. A total of three entities were sold, which were acquired by Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH, WSE Wiener Standortentwicklung GmbH and mac. brand spaces GmbH.

The Freshfields corporate team was led by Partner Farid Sigari-Majd and Counsel Michal Dobrowolski with support from Associates Martin Zankl and Lisbeth Zimmermann. Real Estate advice was provided by Counsel Felix Neuwirther with support from Associates Michael Holzmannhofer and Yasemin Höbek. Advice relating to services agreements was provided by Counsel Gernot Fritz and Associate Elisabeth Pferschy. Employment advice was provided by Principal Associates Leonhard Prasser and Benedikt Sprinzl. Tax advice was provided by Partner Katharina Kubik with support from Principal Associate Anna Binder-Gutwinski and Associate Daniel Grimmer. Antitrust advice was provided by Partner Maria Dreher-Lorjé, with support from Principal Associate Christoph Wanek and Associate Christina Hinterschweiger (all Vienna).
