Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Global Infrastructure Partners (‘GIP’) on the acquisition of wpd offshore GmbH from wpd AG. As a leading offshore project developer and independent renewables power producer (IRPP), wpd offshore GmbH is active in various European and Asia-Pacific markets.
With this investment, GIP further expands its renewables portfolio, noting offshore wind will be critical to net zero carbon targets and energy transition goals. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
