Forensic Reconstruction was Released to Identify Skeletal Remains in Cork.

The Gardaí have made a public plea for assistance in identifying a deceased female whose skeletal remains were found at a construction site in Cork in 2021. The skeletal remains were reported by construction workers during excavation, and were confirmed to be those of a female in her elderly years. Although the remains belonged to an elderly female, she has yet to be identified after nearly four years.

To further develop the investigation, the Gardaí released a forensic facial illustration of the woman who is believed to have been in her late 60s to early 770s. Dr Drichelle Vitali, an American forensic reconstruction specialist, provided a forensic facial illustration resembling the woman, which was created from the woman’s skull. The goal of the illustration is to make the most contemporary likeness of what the woman could have looked like before her death. The Gardaí have outlined details related to the reconstruction, including the woman’s estimated age, slight build and details related to dental work suggesting she had missing teeth and wore dentures.

According to the forensic testing performed, detectives determined the female may have died during the period between 2020 and 2and21. During the recovery period, this individual was wearing a brown, patterned, distinctive jumper and a black rain jacket. The Gardaí have indicated that foul play has not been established; however, the investigation remains open, and her cause and circumstances of death have not been established as of yet.

Police hope that the illustration will prompt public recognition, urging anyone with information about missing persons who match the description to come forward.
