Foley & Lardner LLP served as legal adviser to NEXUS Luxury Collection (NEXUS), the international hospitality real estate and asset management company, in its new partnership to develop and manage The Wellington, a new 600-acre luxury residential club in Wellington, FL, designed to celebrate the best of South Florida.
NEXUS entered into a joint venture named Wellington Lifestyle Partners (WLP) with Wellington resident and entrepreneur Mark Bellissimo to develop the project, which will be managed, branded, and operated by NEXUS. Through this partnership, the principals will reimagine over 600 owned acres and work with the Village of Wellington and the local community to craft a residential experience that is focused on wellness, resort living, and sport while honoring Wellington’s deep equestrian roots.
The Wellington will include a walkable commercial center featuring some of the world’s top luxury brands, a public equestrian facility accessible to the community, several other world-class amenities and experiences, and the newly acquired Cypress Golf Course and associated facilities, which will undergo extensive renovations. The Pete Dye-designed, 18-hole championship course will be supported by a new clubhouse, short game facility, and performance center equipped with in-demand training and analytics.
NEXUS develops, operates, manages, and invests in properties, clubs, and experiential assets around the world that complement the interests and strengths of its partners – private investor Joe Lewis, golfing greats Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, and actor and musician Justin Timberlake.
The Foley deal team was led by Partner Cliff Risman and included Partners Daniel Bachrach, Steve Good, Norm Rich, Fred Ridley, and Robert Sarfatis.
