Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Kevin Burke has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practice Group, adding to Foley’s deep bench of seasoned regulatory and litigation attorneys.

Burke has more than 25 years of experience representing clients in their most significant corporate governance matters, internal and government investigations, and complex litigations relating to fiduciary duty, professional liability, securities and regulation, competition, and employment law. His experience covers a range of industries, including accounting, banking, finance, health care, telecommunications, and transportation.

“Kevin’s deep knowledge of securities laws and experience with SEC enforcement actions further strengthens our group’s capabilities at a time when clients have a pressing need to understand the changing regulatory landscape,” said Margaret Gembala Nelson, chair of Foley’s Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practice Group. “He is a strong cultural fit for Foley and will play a key role in growing our securities litigation and enforcement platforms – both in New York and nationally.”

Burke has significant experience representing major accounting firms and has litigated many complex commercial and securities law cases. He has represented clients in government and regulatory enforcement investigations commenced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the New York State Attorney General, and numerous state enforcement agencies.

“Kevin’s extensive experience practicing before government agencies and his deep business relationships with clients across key sectors will be a great asset to our team in New York,” said Anne Sekel, managing partner of Foley’s New York office. “We are delighted to welcome him to the firm.”

“The opportunity to bring my practice to Foley’s top-flight Securities Enforcement & Litigation Team was truly exciting,” said Burke. “I look forward to working with the outstanding lawyers in New York and across the firm’s national platform to continue advising clients in their most significant legal matters.”
