Foley & Lardner LLP announced that it has strengthened its Transactions Practice with the addition of M&A partner Jeff Symons in New York. Symons’ arrival marks the sixth lateral partner to join Foley’s New York office in under a year, underscoring the firm’s commitment to strategic growth on the East Coast and expanding its capabilities in key practices and sectors.
With over two decades of experience, Symons focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, equity investments, restructurings, related-party transactions, and corporate finance. He has advised corporations and private equity firms on transactional matters exceeding $190 billion in value. Symons also brings extensive experience representing clients on corporate governance, activism, takeover preparedness, and fiduciary duty matters.
“We are excited to welcome Jeff to the firm,” said Michael Okaty, co-chair of Foley’s Transactions Practice Group. “His wealth of experience and success in navigating complex transactions will undoubtedly strengthen our team and enhance the caliber of services we provide to our clients.”
Symons’ transactions practice spans various industries, including Foley’s four key sectors of energy, health care and life sciences, innovative technology, and manufacturing, as well as telecommunications, transportation, financial services, and media and entertainment.
“As Foley’s New York office continues its strategic expansion, Jeff’s arrival highlights our dedication to attracting top-tier lateral talent,” said Anne Sekel, managing partner of Foley’s New York office. “His comprehensive background and client-focused approach align perfectly with our firm’s values and objectives. We are confident Jeff will not only bolster our New York operations but also contribute to the firm’s overall success.”
“Joining Foley presents an exciting opportunity to advance my practice,” said Symons. “The firm’s broad platform, the quality and depth of its lawyers, and its commitment to collaboration and client service will enable me to provide even greater support to new and existing clients on a national scale across critical business sectors. I’m enthusiastic about joining Foley and look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued growth and success.”
Prior to joining Foley, Symons was a partner at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York.
