The Legal academia of the country suffered a huge loss on 10th April, 2019 due to the sad, sudden and unexpected demise of the Dean and Principal of Bharti Vidyapeeth University, New Law College, Pune, Prof.Mukund Bhagirath Sarda. He was a person holding impeccable academic record whose immense dedication to Legal education in India will always be an example for the academicians of the new world.
Prof. Dr. Mukund Sarda was a  B.sc, LLM (Gold Medalist) and NET, Ph.D. in Law. Dr. Mukund Sarda was a doctorate from Osmania University, Andhra Pradesh (Gold Medalist),  LLM from University of Pune (Gold Medalist) and LLB from Marathwada University, Pune (Gold Medalist). He was a member of Legal educational Committee of Bar Council of India, New Delhi. He was also member of standing committee of Bar Council of India (New Delhi), International Council of Juristis (UK), Maratha Chamber of commerce, Indian Merchant Chamber, Confederation of Indian Industry, Academic Council of BVDU, Pune and many more.
       He was invited for guest lectures in various University like Oxford University (UK), University of Warsaw (Poland), BeiHang University, School of Law(China). He held  expertise in Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, International Law, Indian Evidence Act,1872, Indian Penal Code,1860, Code of Criminal Procedure,1973, Civil Procedure Code,1908, Media and Law, Human Rights and Family Law. He established academic linkages with Oxford University(UK), Harvard University (USA), Liverpool Law School(UK), University of Sussex(UK) and many more  Universities of USA and UK.
He was awarded, Vidhi Vidya Bhushan by Punyashlok Sadguru ShivParvati Pratishthan, Nashik for his contribution in legal education. He was a recipient of Pune Municipal Corporation Best Teacher Award for 2003. He was also a recipient of the Rashtra Shakti foundation Award at the National Convention on Peace and Non-Violence on 1st August 2004 organized by the Rashtra Shakti Foundation.
He held the record of being the Youngest Principal in India at the age of 24 years at a professional college. He was invited to attend the swearing ceremony of the then Chief Justice of India Hon. Mr. Justice R.C. Lahoti at Rashtrapati Bhavan
Legal Desire stands with his family and well wishers in this sad situation. His sorrowful demise has saddened the organization. Legal Desire will always miss his presence in the Legal fraternity in India.
