DLA Piper announced today that Eileen O’Pray has joined the firm’s Tax practice as a partner in Northern California, based in the Silicon Valley office.

O’Pray, who will be part of the Transactional sub-group of the Tax practice, focuses on tax matters related to US and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions and investments. She also advises clients on tax aspects of capital markets and other financing transactions. O’Pray previously practiced in-house at Intel Corporation and has extensive experience advising on the tax implications of strategic transactions, including those with a focus on emerging technologies, such as drones, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.

“Eileen brings an impressive depth and breadth of technical knowledge about the wide range of tax matters that arise in connection with complex transactions in a number of cutting-edge industries,” said Stacy Paz, co-chair of DLA Piper’s Transactional Tax practice. “We are thrilled that she is joining our global tax team and believe her insight and experience will be of immense value to a broad range of clients.”

“As we continue to grow our transactional tax capabilities in Northern California to support clients doing business here and across our global platform, Eileen’s practical approach to sophisticated tax issues and her experience, particularly in the field of emerging technologies, will strengthen our ability to serve clients seeking tax-related counsel,” said Victoria Lee, managing partner of the firm’s Northern California offices and global co-chair of the Technology sector.

O’Pray, who joins from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. from Harvard College.
