DLA Piper has advised BestDoctor, which is creating Russia’s first health management system based on hi-tech medical insurance services, on the USD26 million Series B investment round. The money is being raised from international investment firm Winter Capital Partners, Swedish investment company VNV Global and UNIQA Ventures, the corporate venture capital entity backed by UNIQA Insurance group.
Based on Round B, the company’s valuation stands at USD90 million. The total amount raised by BestDoctor has reached USD34.1 million. The funds will be allocated toward the implementation of the company’s key strategic goal – the establishment of a health management platform that will consolidate all of BestDoctor’s products and enable its users to gain access to the best treatments available while preventively lowering the risks of certain medical conditions.
The platform will be based on BestDoctor’s Virtual Clinic, an online medical consultation service that provides round-the-clock assistance and follow-up from top-flight physicians and shortens the patients’ treatment journey. The platform will also incorporate solutions in the field of preventive medicine, analysis of patient data and recommendations on the basis of such data, the individual recommendations of medical professionals, navigation of the healthcare system and offerings aimed at helping customers maintain a healthy lifestyle. Today, the company has the second highest number of users among Europe’s medical insurtech firms. Its client list numbers over 100 companies, including Hoff, Mail.ru Group, Megafon, Ozon and others. Altogether, the company provides assistance to more than 100,000 users and partners with over 14,000 clinics around the country.
DLA Piper advised BestDoctor and its founders on every stage of the investment deal including negotiations and closing. The Moscow-based Corporate team was led by partner and global co-chair of Emerging Growth and Venture Capital Leo Batalov, assisted by legal director Andrei Sheetkin and associate Alexandra Braterskaya.
