Global law firm Dentons announces the recruitment of partner Luigi Costa in the Banking and Finance practice in Milan, to launch a new “Project, Energy and Infrastructure” team in Italy.
The new team will provide an integrated legal service offering for the fast-growing energy and infrastructure sector and will respond to the market need for legal advisors able to manage complex projects with a holistic approach. The new offering is particularly relevant in view of Italy’s PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and the energy transition across Europe.

Luigi Costa, who joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, has extensive experience in advising financial institutions, investment funds, private and IPP investors, contractors, operators and developers on infrastructure and energy projects in Italy and abroad, with specific reference to financial and corporate law, as well as project contracting.
He joins Dentons with a team consisting of managing counsel Ginevra Biadico, associate Silvia Lazzati and trainee Alice Bixio. Costa will serve as Co-Head of the new business unit, together with Energy partner Carsten Steinhauer. The third partner of the new unit is Project Finance lawyer Giovanni Diotallevi.
The new business unit will count 12 professionals with diverse and complementary skills. They will provide full scope assistance to clients on all aspects of their energy and infrastructure projects, including: structuring and development, permitting, project finance and project bonds, M&A, warrantee and indemnity (W&I) insurance, construction, operations and management, revamping and repowering. With reference to the regulatory and administrative aspects – including related litigation – the unit will work closely with the Public Policy and Regulation team composed of 10 professionals, led by partners Federico Vanetti and Ilaria Gobbato.
