Dentons HPRP has successfully assisted PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (“Antam”) – a state-owned enterprise – in a Framework Agreement with CNGR Hong Kong Material Science & Technology Co., Ltd., (“CNGR”). The agreement signed by both parties at the B20 Investment Forum in Bali (11/11) is for the purpose of development of an Industrial Park and Nickel Smelter Facility using Oxygen-Enriched Side-Blown Furnace (OESBF) technology, which is intended to support the supply of raw material for electric vehicle batteries.

Acting as Antam’s legal counsel, a Dentons HPRP’s team led by Partners, Al Hakim Hanafiah and Maurice Maulana Situmorang, supported by Senior Associates, Akbar Bayu Adisono Putro and Trijoyo Ariwibowo, and Associates, Carlos William Rettobjaan and Praniti Putri Mirza, provided a wide-range of legal assistance, including preparing the agreement and representing Antam in the negotiation of the Framework Agreement.

The team also conducted extensive legal studies, as the cooperation for the development of Industrial Park and Nickel Smelter Facility requires extensive studies and planning in various legal aspects (aside from business and financial aspects) in order to ensure that the project can be realized in an efficient manner and in compliance with the relevant regulations in Indonesia. The assistance is being continued with the preparation and negotiation of definitive agreements required for each phase of the project going forward.
