Dentons is pleased to announce that George Tai, Partner in the Firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions, Securities and Corporate Finance Groups, has been appointed as the new Office Managing Partner in Calgary, effective February 1.

“George is a natural leader, who over the years, has shown great dedication to the firm, our clients and their businesses,” said Tim Haney, CEO of Dentons Canada and former Managing Partner of the Calgary office. “George is both strategic and decisive – essential qualities that position him well to lead the Calgary office to further growth and to promote innovation that will benefit our clients. I wish him the best in this new role.”

Over his 30 years of practice, George has developed extensive experience advising clients, primarily in the energy and technology sectors, on a wide range of corporate law matters, including mergers, acquisitions, initial public offerings, licensing contracts and more. Beyond being an legal advisor who provides strategic and pragmatic advice, George partners up with clients to help them understand and make sense of the law as it relates to their business.

George also joins the National Management Committee, in addition to his other leadership roles at the Firm, including lead of Dentons Canada’s China Desk and the co-lead of the Calgary office’s Venture Tech Practice Group.

“I am thankful for the trust and support I have received from my partners. Building on the work of my predecessor, I’m thrilled to further reinforce our position as a leading law firm in Calgary, by continuing to prioritize unparalleled client service, talent retention, inclusion, diversity and equity, and community involvement,” said George Tai.
