Berlin/Tashkent—Global law firm Dentons has advised Korzinka, the leading food retail chain in Uzbekistan, on the development, design and build contract for a new distribution center in Tashkent. The project is the largest Class A distribution center in Central Asia and marks a significant milestone in the Uzbek retail and logistics sectors, featuring a state-of-the-art green facility that will serve as a catalyst for Korzinka’s growth strategy.

Established in 1996, Korzinka operates over 190 stores across 12 regions of the country, including Korzinka supermarkets, Korzinka Mahalla proximity stores, the Korzinka Biznes wholesale store, and the Korzinka Go online supermarket.

The recently opened distribution center, with a total area of 49,000 square meters, will replace four existing logistics sites and become the largest of Korzinka’s facilities. It is part of the company’s objective to expand its retail store network to 1,000 stores by 2028 and will centralize operations, streamline supply chains, and improve shelf stocking, leading to a more resilient and agile logistics network. It will also create more than 1,000 new jobs, support local farmers and suppliers, and enhance access to quality, affordable food beyond Tashkent.

The President of Uzbekistan visited the new center, highlighting that Uzbekistan has attracted $130 billion in foreign investment reflecting strong investor confidence in the Uzbek market.

The deal was led by Berlin-based partner Florian Schneider, who focuses on international investment projects in emerging markets, and Eldor Mannopov, Tashkent Office Managing Partner, who advised Korzinka on the ESG requirements set forth by the International Finance Corporation that financed the construction.
