Houston: Global law firm Clifford Chance has hired corporate M&A partner Cephas Sekhar in its Houston office. Sekhar’s appointment sees the Houston team grow to 11 partners following its opening in June, which marked the expansion of the firm’s global Energy & Infrastructure team in the US.
Sekhar represents public and private companies across various industries in complex transactions that span the entire range of M&A activity, including strategic mergers, joint ventures, take-privates, divisional carve-outs and cross-border matters. He also advises clients on the negotiation of partnership and LLC agreements, debt and equity offerings, securities laws compliance and corporate governance. His representative work highlights deep experience in transactions across the energy sector (including on energy transition mandates) and in the technology and healthcare and life sciences space.
Sekhar is joined by counsel Kyle Kreshover, whose practice focuses on a wide range of M&A transactions across the energy and infrastructure sector, including midstream oil and gas, LNG, energy transition, renewable power generation and storage, telecommunications, digital infrastructure and technology.
Regional Managing Partner for the Americas Sharis Pozen says, “This announcement builds on the incredible momentum following our opening in Houston. As we continue to expand, Cephas’ impressive experience, including having previously worked with members of our Houston team, will deliver immediate value to our US and global clients on the ground in Texas.
“Combine this with Kyle’s experience across the spectrum of M&A and other corporate transactions and it is clear we’re building to meet the growing needs of our clients in the increasingly vibrant energy market.”
Sekhar says, “The opening of the Clifford Chance’s Houston operations is impressive in terms of the remarkable talent of the team. I’m delighted to join such a vibrant group as we combine our local knowledge with the firm’s vast global platform and its deep connections with the energy industry.”
