Singapore, Hong Kong: Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Platinum Equity on its sale of Compart Systems to Shanghai Wanye Enterprises through a competitive auction process.
Headquartered in Singapore with primary operations in China and Malaysia, Compart Systems is a supplier of high-precision, machined metal components including valves, fittings, sensors and related components for a diverse range of industries. Platinum Equity first acquired Compart Systems by way of a carve-out from SGX-listed Broadway Industrial Group, on which Clifford Chance also advised, with Platinum driving its transformation over the hold period through bolt-on acquisitions and strategic initiatives to move the business up the technology value chain, creating a thriving standalone business.
Speaking on the transaction, Tom Lin said: “We are delighted to have supported Platinum Equity on its first exit in Asia, the success of which is a product of the Platinum team’s conviction in executing a transformative investment thesis for the Compart business.”
Partner Tom Lin led the Clifford Chance team, with senior associate Ivan Chan (Singapore), associate Cecilia Chan (Hong Kong) and trainee associate Samantha Phey (Singapore). Partner Matthew Truman (Hong Kong), consultant Charlotte Leung (Hong Kong), associate Dora Cheung (Hong Kong) and registered foreign lawyer Shawn Tan (Hong Kong) advised on the financing aspects.
