Clifford Chance advised the lenders, including local and international financial institutions, JP Morgan, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), HSBC, KfW IPEX-Bank, Proparco, Deutsche Investitions – und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (German Investment Corporation) and Akbank in financing up to $1.012 billion for Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.Ş. (Enerjisa Üretim). In addition, Euler Hermes is involved in the transaction providing export credit guarantee for a significant portion of the deal.
This financing will fund the development of 9 onshore wind power plants (WPPs) with a combined capacity of 750MW, located in the Çanakkale, Aydın and Balıkesir regions under Türkiye’s Renewable Energy Resource Area 2 (YEKA-2) framework. These WPPs are targeted to be completed and commissioned gradually by the first quarter of 2026.
The financing will enable Enerjisa Üretim to make a strategic investment and go towards meeting Türkiye’s growing energy demand, diversifying its energy sources, and reducing its reliance on imported fuels. This will promote decarbonisation through wind power and improve the country’s energy independence.
