Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised Asterion Industrial Partners, an independent investment management firm focused on European infrastructure, on its inaugural aviation investments through the establishment of its leasing platform, Alas Aviation Capital Limited, and closing of the acquisition and financing of two widebody aircraft on lease to Asiana Airlines and Air Europa.
This transaction represents Asterion Industrial Partners’ successful entry into the aviation sector and introduction of aircraft leasing into their wider investment strategy.
The cross-border, multidisciplinary team that advised on the transaction was led by partner Javier Amantegui (Madrid), senior associate Javier Montañés (Madrid) and associate Josep Massana (Madrid) who advised on the leasing platform set up, partner Oliver Hipperson (London), director Jing Tang (London), associate Ope Oreyemi (London) and trainee Martina Ghinetti (London) who advised on the aircraft acquisition and financing related matters with support from partner Eugenio FernĂ¡ndez-Rico (Madrid) and associate Alejandro Cubillo (Madrid) on Spanish law aspects, whilst partner Anne Drakeford (London) and senior associate Arshak Mkrtchyan (London) advised on hedging matters.
