Clifford Chance has advised the consortium comprising TE H2 (a joint venture between TotalEnergies and the EREN Group), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and A.P. Møller Capital on the Preliminary Contract for Land Reservation signed between the consortium and the government of the Kingdom of Morocco on 28 October 2024, under the presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic.
This agreement will enable the consortium to launch the pre-FEED studies in relation to the “Chbika” project, which aims to develop 1 GW of onshore solar and wind capacities to power the production of green hydrogen through the electrolysis of desalinated seawater and its transformation into 200,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia for the European market.
The Clifford Chance team was led by Mustapha Mourahib (Managing Partner, Casablanca) and Frédéric Giancarli (Partner, Casablanca), alongside Anthony Giustini (Partner, Houston), Alexis Germain (Associate, Paris) and Salma Chaouni (Associate, Casablanca).
