About
The DIPP Chair on IPR, National Law University, Jodhpur, is organizing a conference on Issues in Copyright and Technology on 8th – 9th April, 2017.
The rapid evolution of new technologies has raised serious questions on the utility and application of copyright laws.
Many argue that copyright hinders development by limiting access to several important works and creations in the technological era.
Others maintain that with the growth of internet-aided infringement, copyright regimes need to become even stricter to protect rights-holders and the incentive to create.
Aim
The conference aims to generate discussion on the interface between copyright and technology.

Call for Papers
The organizers invite students, research scholars, faculty members and other professionals to submit papers on these issues.
Authors of selected submissions will be invited to present their papers at National Law University, Jodhpur, during the conference from 8th – 9th April, 2017.
All participants will be given a certificate.

Issue of call for papers: 22nd January, 2017
Last date of full paper submission: 28th February, 2017
Release of list of participants selected for the conference: 10th March, 2017
Conference dates: 8th – 9th April, 2017
Submission Guidelines
The submissions must relate to issues involving copyright and technology.
The submissions must be original. Plagiarism of any sort will result in immediate disqualification.
The word limit per submission is 10,000 words (including footnotes). Submissions beyond this limit will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
Each submission must be accompanied by an abstract of less than 300 words.
The submission should not have been published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Only one submission per author is allowed.
Co-authorship of up to two authors is allowed.
The submission must not bear any identification sign of the author(s).
Submission Procedure
Submissions must be sent before February 28, 2017, 11:59 P.M. to nluj.ipchair@gmail.com with the subject “Conference Submission – (Title of Paper).”
The submission email must specify the name(s) of the author(s), phone number and affiliation.
Deadline
28th February, 2017
Registration Fee
Participants who have been selected for presenting their papers will have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 2,000/- per person.
This fee will cover participation in the conference, shared accommodation for the conference dates 7th – 9th April, 2017, lunch for the conference dates and a conference dinner.
The fee for participants who do not want to avail of accommodation will be Rs. 1,200/-.
The organizers will do their utmost to assist such participants in finding alternate accommodation.
