Herbert Smith Freehills has hired Anthony Patten as a corporate partner focussed on energy in Singapore.

Anthony adds bench strength to the firm’s respected Asia energy team through his understanding of the energy industry and sector-wide experience, particularly in energy transition investments.

“Anthony adds deep energy expertise to the team, from traditional projects to the new energy technologies that will drive the energy transition,” said Asia head of Corporate Andrew Blacoe.

“His appointment will give a boost to our energy team as energy transition projects drive record investment and client demand.”

Anthony joins a regional team that spans Asia from offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Singapore and Tokyo, and that works seamlessly as part of the firm’s 700-strong global energy team.

“Energy transition is one of our highest priority areas for growth,” said Asia managing partner Graeme Preston. ” Anthony’s appointment support the increasing volume of energy investments into and from China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Australia and Europe.”
