Global law firm DLA Piper today announces that Andrew Dyson has been appointed as Country Managing Partner (CMP) for the UK, effective 1 December 2024. Andrew succeeds Liam Cowell, who successfully led the UK firm since January 2019.

Andrew, who joined DLA Piper in 2003, is currently the Global Co-Chair Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity practice, and the Office Managing Partner for its Leeds office.

Since coming into the role in 2019, Liam has elevated the UK firm’s offering, significantly increased revenue and cultivated a positive and inclusive culture.

Liam Cowell, UK Country Managing Partner, DLA Piper said: “Having the opportunity to lead the UK firm over the last six years has been an honour, and I’d like to thank everyone who supported me during my term and helped to bring our strategy to life. I am proud of the firm we are today, and our position in the market.”

“As I hand the reins over to Andrew, I am confident that he will continue to grow and develop the firm.”

Andrew Dyson, Partner and UK Country Managing Partner Elect, DLA Piper added: “I want to thank Liam who has been a fantastic leader for the UK firm and taken the firm from strength to strength, and for his support and guidance as I prepare to enter the role. I look forward to working with Charles and his leadership team as we continue to grow and develop the firm.”

Daphne Bens, Joint Managing Director for Europe, DLA Piper, concluded: “We are grateful for Liam’s commitment, guidance and leadership during his tenure. He has significantly built our position in the market and cultivated a positive and inclusive culture of which we’re all very proud.”

“Andrew is an outstanding candidate who brings an esteemed market reputation in Data and Cyber, passion for ethics and global mindset to the role. As Andrew takes the baton from Liam, we look forward to his contributions to the UK firm, as well as his wider collaboration with our global business.”
